Teach me Senpai :crying:

I can point you in the right direction. What is your current level? No of kanji you know, N4/N3 grammar etc.?

EDIT:

Oh year I'm interested in the investor challenge I see MyBBers are participating in. Is there a thread here about it or something or are you all over there on that other site?

So I'm fairly clueless about Anime, what should I watch that would be good for a noob to get into?

On hand I have:
  1. Archer
  2. Full Metal Panic!
  3. Happy Tree Friends
  4. Scryed
  5. Sword of the Stranger (movie)

Should I start with one of these? Else I can acquire other stuff if recommended.

Is dubbed or subtitled the way to go? Can you recommend one of each (dubbed or subtitled)?

:erm: :D

I watched eight episodes in a row last night of 灰と幻想グリムガル (~= ashes/remains and/of the fantasy/illusion of Gurimugaru (Grimgar in English? - not quite sure how to translate it :/ )). Wow. What a fantastic show. Not often do you get water painted by hand scenes and settings for an anime. Beautiful. The animation of the show is quite basic, but the voice acting, background art and story are all 10/10. Almost brought me to tears a couple times - and I'm a grown ass man. Fantastic - I highly recommend you all go watch it naow!

As a result of watching all this Anime, have some of you guys made it a goal to learn Japanese?
Yip, been trying for the last year or so. I can highly recommend Tae Kim's Complete Guide to Japanese Grammar as a starting point.

Having a program like Rosetta Stone on your laptop is nice to practise hearing and speaking every day, but you'll need to learn Kanji to do anything with it. Japanese like English follows Zipf's law, so you only need to know around 2000 Kanji to be fluent. 5 Kanji a day and thats only a year and a bit. Nothing beats tracing sheets to get the stroke order right and help you remember.

Also if you have a Windows phone or tablet get an app called Tあngo master (tango), easily the most useful program thing to practise Kanji daily - unfortunately I've looked on both Apple and Play store, nothing quite as good.

I started Samurai Champloo, with English dubs, I'm up to episode 3. The voices are a bit corny so I'm gonna give Japanese a try, maybe re-watch the first episode in Japanese...

I can see how this can be quite addictive, I do want to know what is happening next, especially when the story is all over the place :p

Samurai Champloo was my second ever anime. So much awesome. Definately go for the Japanese version. Infact only ever do Japanese except for Dragon Ball Z and Baccano!. Those are the only two I've ever watched where the English version was better.

After Samurai Champloo you should definitely watch Death Note and Code Geass if you haven't already. Those two + Samurai Champloo are the three I give people to make them permanently hooked to anime :D

Re: Death Note, is this the 2006 release, it's not obvious what I need to watch here and how many episodes it it? I see there is a 2015 movie too with live actors?
