Don't watch Anime but current list of Manga/Manwa I am reading:
Boko no hero Academia
The Gamer
Dr Stone
Eyeshield 21 (above is by same author, was time to re-read this great series)
Vinland Saga
Boruto
Hajime no Ippo (catch up once every 6 months as it is moving slow)

How is Boruto? Haven't even looked at this or the anime.
Eyeshield 21

Cannot get into monster. That self doubting, whining main character is irritating me to no end.

I suspect the English voice actor is the same as Ergo Proxy's.

Re-watching Kenichi, History's Strongest Disciple. Ticks all the right boxes for me - action, humour, great characters.

Re-watching Hajime no Ippo atm. Watched it when I was still fairly new to anime and it was one of the animes that convinced me there is a lot more to anime than just "cartoons with panty shots". But, now that I've got more experience and have a lot more to compare it to I realise for the first time just how good it really is. No wonder it is still ranked #25 in MAL's list of All-Time Top Anime, even though it's 17 years old (the manga is almost 30 years old).

This is one of the first animes I think of when somebody asks me what is the best anime I've ever seen.

Started watching The King's Avatar. It's excellent! A must-watch if you're a fan of anime like Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Overlord, etc.

Many thanks to MickeyD for moving this to the Entertainment: Movies and TV Series section. It kept on getting lost between so many random threads in the Off Topic section.

Finally watching FMA Brotherhood after reading the manga years ago. Watching dubbed but I don't like either VAs for Roy Mustang (favorite character).

FMA Brotherhood is still on my To Be Watched list. My brother has seen it (and loved it) but since we share a house I'm trying to be considerate. At the moment we are re-watching Hunter X Hunter (2011) since we've both seen it. It's only now that I've had time to compare it with other anime that I realise how brilliant this show actually is. I watched HxH not long after I got into anime, and loved every minute of it. But only now, that I've had time to watch other shows, can I truly judge the excellence of not just the writing, but the voice acting, the soundtrack, the character development, the depth and richness of the world they have developed...

One thing I never do is watched dubbed. The Japanese have so many decades of experience in voice acting that I have never found an anime where the dubbed version is preferable to the subbed. Plus, after many year of anime it's actually fun to realise every now and again that I understand a word here and there.

Sure but when the majority of the characters are non-Asian (Most have Anglo and Germanic names) it makes sense to my mind to not watch in Japanese. Same as Hellsing. Hell, I'd watch it in German just to hear them refer to the Führer

Ha, yeah, that always amuse me :crylaugh:. Recently re-watched most of the Hajime no Ippo series and it is hilarious to hear an American boxer speak English with a Japanese accent.

If old anime is not a problem try Yu Yu hakusho same author as Hunter X Hunter. For sport anime Major is good but the best is Slam Dunk.

Nice Slam Sunk video but it's a big spoiler.

I love sports anime but I confess that I struggle with old anime. Three anime that I tried to watch because they were highly rated and recommended were Slam Dunk (1993), Initial D (1998) and Great Teacher Onizuka (1999). I made it the furthest with Initial D and still plan to complete it.

Major has been on my list for a while but I've never gotten around to it.

My favourite sports anime that I've seen and loved:
Hajime no Ippo 9/10
One Outs 9/10
Kuroko no Basket 9/10 (depending on season)
Haikyuu!! 9/10 (depending on season)
Prince of Tennis 8/10 (I stopped watching New Prince of Tennis when it turned into science fiction)
Capeta 8/10
Yowamushi Pedal 8/10 (still busy with 3rd season)
Free! 8/10
Baby Steps 8/10
Giant Killing 7/10
All Out!! 7/10

Major is awesome, should definitely give it a go. Also check out
Ace Of Diamond (my favorite, currently reading act 2 of the manga)
Cross Game
Big Windup

I've heard of Ace of Diamonds, don't know why it slipped off my radar. I've added it to my To Be Watched list - thanks.

Is Cross Game a drama? A romance? I can't seem to make sense out of the description - I love sports anime because it's usually a good mix of action and humour. Will keep it in mind, but not going to put it high on my TBW list for now.

I have watched Big Windup! (although I forgot that's what it's called in English). Ookiku Furikabutte is a good show and I enjoyed it but I am hesitant about recommending it. Even though I rated it 8/10 I don't think everybody who enjoys sports anime will enjoy it. I know my brother, who usually watches sports anime with me, got somewhat bored with it and I ended up watching it alone.

Like I said, I think it's very good, but because it doesn't fit the usual pattern I am more likely to recommend it as a Slice Of Life anime than a sports anime.
