Looking for SL-2611

Hi guys.

We've been approached by one of the local schools that doesn't have much money and is basically reliant on the charity of others, to help them source a couple of the old Senao / Engenius SL2611 AP's for their network. They'd love RB411R's, but simply can't afford them.

We'll be putting up the money for each unit to be fitted into one of these.

If anybody has one (with or without it's case) and would be willing to see it go to a good home, please be in touch.

Any reason why a simple little integrated unit such as the Ubiquity Nanostations wouldn't do?

All in one, and probably cheaper than the Enclosure + Senao route...

I agree daffy, the enclosure alone is going to be more than R400!

Surely the Nanostation would have better range as well?

So what do we pay Uniterm when we buy NS2's from them? Isn't it R749+VAT?

The enclosures are R395+VAT a pop from Scoop and with a bit of luck the radios will be free to minimal.

FWIW Scoop's RB411+enclosure combo is only R25 more expensive than an NS2. Routerboard with RouterOS vs Uniquiti. Routerboard wins every time.

The cline isn't some ou who's just climbed out of his new R1M Range Rover, this is a school in a part of town most of us wouldn't even go to because we'd be too scared that our tyres would be stolen.

The main reason why they want to go down the SL-2611 route is because they already have some of these radios. A couple of years ago they were given two. Back then they didn't have teachers giving lessons in shipping containers and they didn't have as many donated computers as they do now.

100mW Nanostation +10dBi antenna vs 200mW 2611 + 15dBi antenna.

I was offering an alternative, since I wouldn't know where you could source a Senao SL-2611.

But I'll stop trying to help if this is how you're going to take it.
Keep your guilt trips and criticisms.

We don't _need_ to help you... but by the sounds of it, you _need_ our help.
