Maybe I can get some advice from forum members.

I am looking for a good second hand car for my sister under R120k

The main problem is I live in the middle of the Kalahari and she is in Bloemfontein, so I can't really go and look at the car myself.

Was looking around on webuycars for their A(rating) models. That includes protection if something is wrong within 6 months and also includes roadworthy voucher.

Should I rather stay away from it and look at other places?

That Suzuki looks good. Personally I prefer to buy used cars from their original OEM, in the hope they actually do proper maintenance checks before selling the car.

Nothing wrong with WBC, the whole thing is very transparent. That's not a bad deal at all, I also prefer the previous model over the new, it just looks and feels more solidly built.

Agree, I feel like the Swift went backward with the successor model.

On the topic of WBC, I just find that the quality of their stock is pretty poor. The good quality stuff gets bought by the trade before they ever get marketed to the public so we only see the leftovers that dealerships didn't want. I don't mean bad quality in terms of the cars being bad, I just mean that they're not in top condition in most cases.

I will keep a eye out for more cars, the best would be if a friend family member sells a car for a upgrade

I like We Buy Cars (WBC). They are transparent and efficient. I have sold 2 of my family cars to WBC. It was a fun and pleasant experience. They do all the paper work and I got the money in 24 hours.

When I scouted for my next student car with a budget between R80 000- R100 000, WBC was a nice place to check what is in the market currently. When I went to go check the cars out in person at the Brackenfell branch I was a bit disappointed in the overall condition of the cars. They looked better on the photos and the cars' sound at idle wasn't very comforting.

I would advise using autotrader.co.za as well. I eventually found my preferred car on there. WBC tend to list their cars on autotrader.co.za too. Therefore autotrader gives you a bigger range of options to choose from.

The Suzuki Swift cars are a great choice. My student daily driver is currently a Kia Picanto 2014, my sister drives a Hyundai i10 grand 2015 and my mom a Hyundai i10 grand 2019. I fully recommend all 3 models! Fun to drive and maintenance is cheap. Kia and Hyundai also share a lot of the same parts.

Good luck with your search! Always go check the car out in person and test drive it before getting excited.

No issues, just do some due diligence yourself, like verify the service history etc.

Can't say much about the solidity, but I can say with the new shape one its incredible how much space they manage to squeeze out of such a small car.

Surely you know someone in Bloem with a bit of know-how, and that you can trust, to take a look at it? The Dekra reports are generally pretty good though, many of the inspectors have years of experience and knowledge, and if you really have your doubts, you can always opt to pay a higher fee for a more in-depth report, the one that they give is the Basic Condition report. One up from that is the Multi Point check, and even more comprehensive is the Technical inspection.
Since they have already done the basic report, consider negotiating with the seller to upgrade it, if you buy the car, he pays, if you do not, you do.

Webuycars, I would stay away. But that’s just me. Not to mention their questionable dekra reports.

Suzuki Swift is a really nice car.....in Asia. We had a Baleno when staying there. But drove a Swift too.

Yet most asians.....drive the Honda Jazz

The boot on the Jazz supports 90l more of space, and when you fold down the seats over the suzuki swift....its 800 litres more space. Which is well.... more than the boot space of a BMW X1 (newer model)

2014 Ford Figo. 300,000km (yes I know it's high, 95% was long distance driving). Motor is however in perfect condition. Doesn't use a drop of oil and very light on fuel. Mechanically in perfect condition. Body is also in perfect condition. In fact, car is at the panelbeaters having front bumper and bonnet resprayed due to stone chips. Looking for R80,000. PM me if interested. Car is truly bulletproof and reliable. Start and drive to Cairo.
