Looking to buy/build a box that can do "dynamic refresh rate switching"

Ok, so by kodi box running LibreElec does this perfectly: it changes the output refresh rate to TV according to the source. So if the movie is 24p, it will output to TV at 24p, 25p at 25p, etc. This eliminates judder, which I am very sensitive towards.

Only problem is that I need Showmax and Netflix, which does not have Kodi addons.

The Telkom LitBox I bought recently (running Android TV 7) cannot do above, and apparently very few android boxes can do this properly (not even the Shield).

Will a box running windows 10, with the Netflix/Showmax apps installed, do this auto refresh rate switching properly? Anyone with experience with this care to share.

Or any other recommendations?

I know the Minix U9H has the capability, and after the last FW007A firmware, most features seem quite stable.

Does anybody know whether a box running windows 10 will automatically change the output refresh rate to match that of the source, e.g. when using netflix app, or showmax app?

Apple TV 4k with tvOS 11.2 (beta) supports dynamic refresh rate switching and SDR/HDR switching.

So far very impressed with Kodi and Netflix 4k HDR is mind f@ckingly beautiful - don't want to watch kodi stuff after being spoilt with 4k HDR series.

It will vary by app but I don't think many streaming apps support it. My Windows 10 HTPC setup with Plex Media Player supports it really well though.

How do you manage the Netflix content (mostly 24p) and the Showmax/DSTV now content (mostly 25p/50p) on the same box in Windows. Or is there a way to run Netflix/Showmax via Plex?

I use my Nvidia Shield for 99% of the time, it also supports refresh rate switching (but there is a bug currently which currently makes it bug out when going through my receiver). The only apps I use that support it are Plex and Kodi anyway, Netflix app doesn't have support and not sure about Showmax (but I highly doubt it).

No, that's only for my personal collection.

TL;DR Doesn't work for Netflix on my setup.
