Looking to buy my first MacBook

Hi guys

My first Apple product was an iPad 2 through FNB, which I still use today. I decided to get an iPhone last year, and love it. Now I want a MacBook and maybe next year an iMac?

I am currently using a PC, actually quite old, AMD 965, 8GB ram, 460gtx video card. I use to play games quite often but I'll only play WoW now and again for the last two or so years.

The PC I mostly use to draft documents, do research, listen to music, download series and stream movies to my Roku.

FNB seems to be the best place to buy a MacBook- I cannot access myistore for some reason. It keeps timing out.

I want some advice on whether I should get a MacBook Pro or Air? Like I said, I'll play wow casually but not to often. Prefer console anyway, but it would be nice to be able to play a game if I want to.

I own a 13".

13" Pro will cost around 15-20K
15" Pro will cost 25-30K

Big price difference. If you want to play latest games you'll have to go for the 15" Pro as that comes with its own GPU.
The 13" does come with Intel Iris graphics but that doesn't play most high spec games

13" with Iris is perfect for Blizzard games, older games, many newer games at lower resolution/settings, etc.

Even HD 4000 was decent.

The 15 inch available through FNB states Intel Iris Graphics? Is that the one?

Think you'll need the pro with a decent card.
I have the air.
Its a great product, but from what I've seen of wow on the gf's pc, I don't think it'll run it very well.

Where can I get the Nvidia one on contract? Or will I only be able to get it for cash?

iStore. I think it's possible to take out other Macs, not on the FNB site, but still do the deal through FNB/monthly payments. Someone will need to confirm, though.

15" is big though, and you really don't need the graphics card for WoW. 13" is by far the most popular, practical, etc.

Why not get the iMac with a decent card first and then get the Air on special next year when the new models come out.

I got mine for R12000 this year.
I have the quad core mac mini for other stuff.

Thanks. I think I'll go for the 13" through FNB then!

rocking a 13" late 2013 256GB.

play little bit of Minecraft. They laptop warms up now and then. Bought a stay to let laptop breathe more and helped. Graphics isnt the best but for quickly sorting stuff out and being a laptop with 8hours battery it is very convenient eg. im in Bloem for work for one night. left home on 100% listened music on plane and now for about an hour. did some documents as well charging my phone about 4hours use already, on 49%.

I would recommend a macbook with external display :)

I play some wow on my Macbook air with the HD5000 gpu. Medium-ish settings get me decent 40fps.

Hardly a problem... use my trusty external DVD writer :)

Also not a problem for me. I replaced my last Macbook's optical drive with a caddy for an SSD upgrade, and didn't miss having the drive.

Can't remember the last time I had to use a CD for anything.
