Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking to do a relatively basic (for now) networking course to assist me with a part time/hobby/Sunday business that I'm in the process of setting up. It'll mainly be for residential setups.

I've got a basic understanding of networking but feel that there's definitely room to grow.

I found an old thread here from 2014 but not sure how relevant the info there is.

Any suggestions would be great.

Think this will depend on what exactly you want to be doing.

Basic as in physical hardware setups, or more on the wireless side?

Routing? Security?

You could start with an N+ (think you can even do this free online) and take it from there.

Otherwise you could look here: http://www.it-academy.co.za/

Don't think much has changed since 2014 besides newer/better products with more prevalent 801.11ac support. Basics stayed the same.

Thanks..

Mainly wireless but also an element of physical hardware setups - basically don't want to land up getting stuck at a job due to my lack of knowledge ;)

I'll check out the it-academy and online.

Why not try to join Jawug? You can learn more from long range WiFi links on the Wug and also more about routing and various other technologies.
