Do a walk in and claim you're booked. The place I went yo didn't check for proof of a booking.
You'll most likely be turned away, unfortunately. But, if you cross the border and apply at a DLTC in another province, they cannot refuse your money. (Some transactions are not bound by municipal areas, so they are available to you nationwide.)

They've found a way to book up all the slots upon release. I think the new request a slot is an attempt to get ahead of these guys
