If you are interested in the range of Ecoflow units don't forget the South African Ecoflow website. We tend to jump onto Takelot.com almost instinctively. Noting wrong with that of course but you might score if you do your homework.
I have bought some Ecoflow units on Takealot previously when their prices were the best. Sometimes the prices on Takealot seem to fluctuate upwards during different times of the day.....weird
Currently the South African Ecoflow website prices are the best for the River 2 @256Wh R3 999.00 (-R500) and @512Wh R7 999.00 (-R500 which is R7 499.
Just for visiting and giving your email address you will receive a R500 discount voucher immediately. I ordered a 512Wh unit just last week which I installed our the weekend. Just in time for Stage 6 loadshedding 4 hourse off which it passed with flying colours. Unboxing the unit revealed 28% battery charge which is totally normal for shipping purposes. It charged to full in 41minutes. I performed 2 firmware upgrades in 8 minutes using the app and configured it for remote monitoring over wifi. (Explained at the bottom.)
The R500 discount is immediately taken off the final amount with free shipping to major centres like Cape Town. They use Buffalo express.
For myself I bought an Ecoflow Delta2 and for various other people I helped to buy and setup a mix of River 2 - 256Wh, River 2 Max 512Wh and River 2 Pro 720Wh units.
Quick charging very useful but you can adjust charging slower also. How is this possible? With the brilliant Ecoflow app which you can also use for firmware upgrades and various other interesting settings for solar etc. Depending on your unit it will have Wifi built in for remote management and some also have Bluetooth if there is a problem with Wifi.
All in all very good units. If you are worried about spending hard earned money and you are not sure which brand to go for you can trust Ecoflow for sure with the new Lithium Phosphate batteries. The other day in Makro I switched on a R21 000 model unit and it was using 20Watts without anything connected to it.
Some units also have like a laptop charger which limits the charging to 200Watt. Ecoflow has a straight power cable which can charge at max wattage.
I also did my research in the beginning and never heard about Ecoflow before but they are rock solid. At the end I respected everybody's choice of brand that they want to buy but just wanted to share my experience. All brands are definitely not created equal.
Lastly before you buy calculate or test the wattage of the appliances that you want to keep powered on as well. For example a 256Wh might not be the fit for Stage 6 - 4 hours outage rather then a 512Wh. It gets very technical as one actually need not to cross the 20% charge limit if you don't have to. Sticking to this will protect the battery in the long term.
I hope that this was helpful.
