Test before you sign up? Common sense.

Ok to put every thing into perspective. I also did a speed test via Telkom to London.
Latency was fine at 210ms and jitter 16.
Speed was what I expected 30mbps down and 2.7mbps up. I did it a couple of times. All and all similar results.
So next time around I might do server hopping to see if UK server was not bogged down. In the EU there are a couple of servers to chose from, UK is one of them.

Mine was fine for many months, now in the evenings it just falls over flat.

Have a look at the 'Degrading Telkom LTE' thread here and you will see lots of people are having the same issue.

Fine during the day generally speaking but latency and dl plummets now between 7 and 12.

Yeah, having the same issues here.

It's not my signal as that is excellent, near the tower, line of sight and external antenna. During the day get around 70Mbps down. After 7 we are looking at around 10-20 which would be fine if the latency wasn't dog****. Local latency is around 500ms.

I know it's not tower congestion either as the first couple hope all have low and stable latency.

I'm guessing capacity is the issue, I just wish Telkom would sort it out.

Nookie, carbon copy of my experience of late.
Look at the tracert's in the other thread and its a problem on their side, not the tower you are connecting to.
I have 5 bars good signal line of sight and poynting antenna for good measure.

I dont mine the dl speed coming off as long as netflix and showmax still work properly, but the latency as you mentioned is really really really bad.
For me 4-10mb dl in the evening would be fine. Cant work with 500-1000+ pings though.

This is pathetic service. 7PM and I might as well not have internet connectivity.

I wonder why this is happening when Telkom has got a crap load more spectrum compared to Vodacom with a lot less customers? Seems Cell C is having similar issues from reading that section. But then again, the Cell C issue is not a new one by any means.

I think they don't have the back haul to deal with the bandwidth...

There MUST be something we can do. They can't just lock people into a contract and expect them to be happy with the schit service, surely?

I cant imagine that being the issue. Telkom has got a crap load of fibre in the ground .... more than Vodacom I imagine.

Well the service has been extremely poor the last few months and no light at the end of the tunnel.

Guys, it is normal for Ockie pissing off on Cell C

Cell C problem is a new one. There had been no interruptions of service for the last couple months. I think (judging from the time frame) it has something to do with Anonymous hacking Armscor Web site.
