What started on a cold winters morning in 2020 while sitting sipping my cold coffee I realised man, I don't need to live like it's 1866, I can do better.
So I setup on my journey for the sun to be my power and man was it a journey, it had some ups where I used old dead dinosaurs to fuel me for sometime, to some xenomorph blood on others, to now where I've finally managed to start my journey proper with the following.
5kw Mecer Inverter
2 ZTE 4,8kw/h batteries :)
It's a small start but I'll be adding panels in Juneish.

What you planning to do with old stuff?

Sell to sub for solar panels?
Pretty much yeah :) though I did move the Mecer to the lounge to see if it could possibly get some more life out of those LAs. It couldn't and the 2 Lithiums are now hooked up too 2 12vs similar to the first UPS looking one. So now I've got 4 LA batteries I can scrap and 2 that are still holding up reasonably.
Though I'm like a little hesitant to get rid of the old Mecer 2400.

I like this :) showing me the wattage, may spring for the wifi module :) IMG_20220518_144412.jpg

Very very nice - interested to see / hear how the batteries work - i believe these are the first of this model / type we have seen here

Apparently more for larger clients, I mean they are 4u and fit in an 8 u server rack, the inverter is actually not loud during charging the way they were talking I was expecting Mecer 20Ax2, but it's actually about the sound of PC every so often.

I take there is no comms between battery and inverter?
Nope there isn't :-( more expensive option but the batteries have their own charge LEDs, their own shut off, their own controls.

DIY or installer? If installer, can you please PM contact details?

Installer, I will fiddle with 24v and nothing to the DB :)
Yeah. I'll fiddle up to where the wife will complain when something goes wrong. Hence, while I can do the work myself I'd rather not be on the hook when I screw something up.

Yeah and sometimes I'm still on the hook as it was my cockamany idea for it to happen, but we will see tonight at 8pm is shedding time :-(

Were the installers pushy about getting you to buy everything at once? ie. solar and more batteries and more inverters? I hate when they do that because I want to move at the speed of cash so can't afford everything at once.

That would be a weird put by the installers - its actually in their favour to split = more instillation cost line items if the gap is sufficient

Yup have had those, at least with who I went with it was I want this one first and we will go from there, so they did. The big one is done.

Congrats!

You can maybe use the old inverter as a secondary input to the new one. Not sure how Mecer works but I'm sure you can fiddle around. Good call on hanging onto it...
