Lupus Start of the Solar

Had to order a new rack for the new batteries, rather large :) lets hope the supplier has stock, said it is low but they should have so lets hope.

Looks like my install will need to be done in the garage after all, more expenses sigh.

Size of the inverter and the battery bank require it to be outside the house, CoC BS.
Pity about the extra expense but I do think that it's a better and safer option.
The novelty of looking at it wears off pretty fast and it's not like a painting that you can just move willy nilly.

Yeah 100% agree, it is needed to be done. Will be nice to have a quiet study again.

The installer I had, wanted to charge 80k to install 8 panels and have my inverter setup in the garage... 80k it's like bloody no, I mean in 2022 I paid 55k for 8 panels and install, when panels cost me almost 4k, panels now cost under 2k.

Wtf. I got my setup done in 2023 at what I think was probably the height of pricing. I do hope my expansion is going to be a lot more forgiving in terms of cost but what you say here is concerning.

So what now? New installer?

Oh hell yeah :), this guy was taking the mickey, I double checked and that was without VAT, with VAT it would in essence work out to 35k more than my original install in 2022 which was at the start of the loadshedding.
So going to go check more installers as well, cause yeah wow.

I installed my system myself and did underestimate the time needed and the cost of all the extras, but that does sound rather excessive in my book.
For somebody doing it day in day out, with the stuff you have mentioned, it shouldn't be that difficult.

Sounds a bit like business is a bit slow...

Yeah my thinking as well, so on wards to others. Though I may need to change batteries and get more expensive ones for the luxpower
