Interested, but a bit pricey. Can get a 2020 model off eBay (open box unit) for much the same price

To answer the vulgar gentleman in post # 8 above, here is a link to an open box MacBook, selling for $860

Must have taken me all of 10 seconds to find it

I very much doubt it is the very latest model, the one with the M1 chip, which Apple is marketing as a 2021 model, but hey, I don't write the eBay ads

I got one off eBay in 2016 for $499 which included shipping. It was far cheaper than anything available locally

The point is you not supposed to discuss price in another users thread.

860 dollars is close to the asking price of the seller once you add shipping costs and import duties (which you conveniently fail to mention) and is less risky than buying something off eBay.

this one still has some warranty left over
i would be too shitscared to buy a laptop from ebay not knowing if the seller will honour the warranty

I wouldn't worry about buying off eBay, it will arrive or you get your money back but the warranty is another thing all together.

I have a Macbook Pro that I bought on eBay Canada. It had extended apple care (the 3 years one).
I called iStore here in Randburg and confirmed that all Apple devices, as long as they have valid Apple Care are fully covered in SA.
Hope that clarifies the warranty question :)

True that, forgot about Apple care being global, the base warranty if any is remaining is probably also global and if not you could upgrade it with Apple care and make it so.
