MacBook reload?

Hey guys,

I got my first mac today so really happy about that. I bought it second hand and there is a fair amount of this guys stuff on here that I guess I would like to can. I am thinking of doing a re install. I got all the disks with the book so that is not the problem. I am a windows man so never done a restore on a mac. Is it a simple procedure? I am probably being a little lazy and should google a bit more, but its late and I would rather be playing with my new toy

Should be simple. Just pop the disc in, check the manual to see how to boot from the optical drive and let the installer take over. After loading from the DVD, it's pretty much automated.

Mac beginner

I bought a new MBP13" last week.( I have moved from windows )
I am very impressed with it, except for the way the text appears. It looks very blurry. eg with "b" the vertical line is a faint grey and the rest is a darker black. This applies to most letters in all applications, menus & messages. I have done some googling and other people have also noticed this, however I would like your opinions. I have fiddled with the font smoothing but I don't see any difference. Any ideas?

I've been trying to get used the way Apple renders the fonts, but I really wish they would at least give an option for more clear type font for those of us who are not font designers or publishers. My MBP13 is just sitting in its box as a result. What a waste, will probably sell it :-(

Check in the System Preferences --> Appearance. At the bottom there are some settings for Font smoothing - have a play with that.

Also check that your resolution is set correctly.

My MB screen is amazing, i don't notice any blurring, so it is probably a setting somewhere hey...

Did ure macbook come with the retail leopard dvd, tiger or the leopard upgrade dvd? If its the upgrade dvd, let me know and I will tell you how to install without having to install tiger first and then upgrading.
