As the title says I have been unable to send mail for the last 3 days, using an MTN modem plugged into my pc. This has happened before but sorted itself out after a day or so.

So does anyone know if there are any other outgoing servers I can use, and is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks!

I have a gmail account for these precise situations - they seem to work everywhere.

I do have a gmail account as well but not a business one. Perhaps I should set up another.

MTN planning to update the e-mail settings on 22 March 2013, see below:

Important Communications

Dear Customer,
On the 22 March 2013, we will be moving this service to a new and improved hardware platform. This will affect you in the following ways:
• On the switch on of the new mail server, you will receive an email with a link to a website that will allow you to sync your mail from the old system. The old system will be kept switched on for a period of 3 months allowing for this syncing. After this period of time, you will lose the option of syncing your mail, contacts and calendars.
• Your email address will change from @mtnloadedmail.co.za to @mymtnmail.co.za. All emails you send will use this new address. You will still, and always will receive mail from anyone still using your old @mtnloadedmail.co.za address.
• Your mailbox size will increase by 500%. Yes, that is right - your email box will now be 500MB
• You will have stable and reliable mail service.

which port you sending it through? 25? Because ISP's love hijacking port 25 traffic and rerouting it through their own servers. This basically renders your own outgoing mail server useless as you require authentication to relay mail through. (like gmail, but in my case, my own server)

What you can try is change your outgoing port to 587

Thanks guys. I tried changing the port to 587 but no luck. It must be related to what ahf posted. I don't mind a switchover and a bit of downtime but 3 days is pushing it. It also looks like it's gonna take a while to be resolved.
