Or a regime change happens and they have to rename everyrhing again.African names are fine, but make it neutral.Naming major landmarks after living people (with the exception of royalty) is generally considered a bad idea. Even worse so when some of those people are has-been political hacks. One of many reasons why this is a bad idea - often so much dirt comes out about these people after they kick the bucket, (e.g. Jimmy Saville).
Major Joburg roads are being renamed – including the country’s biggest interchange
The city of Ekurhuleni, east of greater Johannesburg, says it will rename 42 streets and eight landmarks after political icons and other eminent individuals from the region.
oh ? not after Gavin Watson ?The largest interchange in Africa – Gillooly’s interchange – will be renamed after anti-apartheid human rights lawyer advocate George Bizos;
Ah, was hoping it would be more interesting than that.The name of the family that owned the farm where the interchange was built. They probably donated the land.
"Hey honey, I'm on the way, just going down on Winnie Mandela right now"Imagine the joy rightwingers will experience being able to drive over Winnie Mandela, Thabo Mbeki etc.
