After several years of delays, the first season of Major League Cricket has been announced for July 13-30, 2023 with a newly renovated venue outside of Dallas, Texas serving as the primary location for the 18-day tournament. The announcement coincided with the installation of the turf square at Grand Prairie Stadium, with further renovation work to finish the transformation of the 7200 permanent-seat facility (which can be expanded to 15,000 with temporary seating for larger events) from a minor league baseball ground formerly known as Airhogs Stadium into a full-time cricket venue expected to be completed by the spring of next year.

"Next summer, the eyes of world cricket will be on the launch of Major League Cricket, with the stars of the game competing over three weeks of fast-paced T20 action," Justin Geale, MLC Tournament Director, said. "The launch of MLC will transform American cricket and provide one of the best platforms in the sport for the world's most elite players to showcase their skills while also fast-tracking the development of domestic talent to feature in the league."

Some familiar names backing the league

WHO'S RUNNING THE TEAMS ON THE FIELD AND PICKING PLAYERS?

Each team is backed on the team performance side by a world class cricketing entity who have run teams at the very highest-levels of global T20 cricket.

Always wondered what happened to former Warriors stalwart Rusty Theron...
The Texas Super Kings have also made some smart picks in their domestic draft. They have acquired players like Rusty Theron, Calvin Savage, Lahiru Milantha, Milind Kumar, Sami Aslam, Cameron Stevenson, Cody Chetty, Zia Shahzad, and Saiteja Mukkamalla.

I wonder if @Arthur will be in attendance?

Hehe. Thanks for this. Will certainly be taking my grandsons (aged 9 and 11) to see some real live games to build enthusiasm for civilising the natives with cricket. Their el cheapo cricket set has disintegrated - all that's left is the dinkum Kookaburra white ball I bought separately off Amazon.

Many parks and sports fields here in the DFW metro have cricket games on weekends. There are tens of thousands of Indians (from the Subcontinent, not "Native Americans") in the area.

Separately, they already play rugby in the Dallas junior league, with matches pretty much every weekend. The season ends next week. Rugby is a popular game at several schools and universities in the area. My Texas nephews at a fairly new school in Kansas, immigrants to the USA 3 years ago, have just achieved runners-up in the State high school rugby champs.

This should be as big as the NZ T20 tournament if it's a success.

We going to get year round lPL type games ...
I said this... just add more teams to the IPL have a 6 month window... get it over and done with and then we can play internationals

more players get big bucks, more mafia bosses launder more money, everyones happy.
