“These devices range in price from R14,999 to R59,999, and the largest unit (5kW) is approximately the size of a hand luggage suitcase.”

The large units can also be recharged between 5,000 and 6,000 cycles,” Lindhorst added.

So, these units have a lifespan of about 5 years and they need to be replaced then....

Like a basic retirement, anything less than R35 million will simply not be enough if you want to go full solar to survive the coming apocalypse. This country is doomed.

Charging your yacht doesn't come cheap. And before anyone mentions wind power, what if there is no wind? How do expect to comfortably visit your kids scattered around the world if you can't charge your yacht's batteries.

Solar systems are rumoured to be overpriced, the real amount is around R50k-R75k is this true

Nah, just asking.... the past 2 months we had 2-3 outages a day. That is like 2-3 charge cycles per day. Assuming the loadshedding continues, that would make around 90 charge cycles a month, or about close to 1,000 a year by the way it is currently going.....
