So wake up one day and think, hey guys let's blow a commercial airliner out of the sky. Jah alrighty then.

RIP to the victims.

No really, more like "Lets blow that Junta plane to pieces" then "Yee hah! We gots it!" then "Oh ****, its a civilian plane" then "Deny deny deny, delete delete delete, and mess with the evidence"

Banner on CNN says that Putin is saying that Ukraine had a fighter jet 5km from the airliner when it crashed.

And he has also said Russia has not provided the separatists with any weapons and such, like with Oscar one can't believe a word of what he says.

Ukrainian President has just said that all Ukrainian planes were on the ground when this incident occurred.

Make a statement and offer +-5 different scenarios in order to muddy the waters and confuse the whole situation. The problem being is that their scenarios have glaring holes in them.

That is pretty devious, but not sure what they are trying to achieve.

All the people that matter surely know what the SU-25 specs are ?

Of course but its propaganda remember, they want their citizens to believe these things so when a normal person goes onto the Wikipedia site they see these specs.

They are lying themselves into such a mess. They aren't going to make sit-com's out of this material. Cant make a "Jason Bourne" movie, unless you want it to be a comic farce. Maybe a Monty Python spy movie. Or Johonny English or Spy Hard.

I'm beginning to suspect that all we'll see is more words and a few more sanctions aimed at Putin. The West has no appetite for war. Maybe the memory of July 1914 is too much to bear... and it's eerily reminiscent of that time. Austria demanded Serbia surrender rebels/assassins. Serbia, backed by Russia, refused... and so the whole thing unravelled.

Yeah, no nukes and deeply interconnected trade back then, it complicates things :) . I think they should supply Ukraine with some predator drones on top of the sanctions.

Don't forget Russia is hosting the next world cup in 2018. This could all backfire on them badly and become a very expensive blunder.

Qatar basically still dabbles in slavery and FIFA refuses to move the world cup to a different host.

Germany and France can't wage war and certainly not over Ukraine, Poland or the Baltic states. Their current welfare state has resulted in populations that will never accept the sacrifice and they can't even afford their current meager NATO funding obligations.

The state of their militaries is appalling. Look at their performance against Gaddafi and in Afghanistan the Germans are a laughing stock known more for being overweight, drunk and too afraid to leave their bases at night than any worthwhile fighting force. Which is unfortunate really since smaller European countries like Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and Poland have proven themselves very capable in the conflict.

Its not a tank ffs, its allegedly a BUK system, have you seen the complexity of this system and the hardware involved? Then you might realise why one would want to protect it from the elements. Even if it was a tank why do you think it would be immune to the elements, go take a look at tanks that are left out in the open to elements. Its not abnormal to put a cover on them. Even more so if these pieces of hardware are to be placed out in the field on the border for months because that is exactly what Russia has been doing.

I'm sorry, but I disagree, Russia builds these systems to operate in their winter, they are extremely hardy and weather proofed, there would be no technical reason to cover them because of some rain. The only reason to wrap it like that is an attempt at disguise.

There's really not enough information at this point to draw any conclusive conclusions. One interesting point, though, is that it is Putin who has requested an independent investigation, while the US is just insisting that it's Russia's fault without providing conclusive evidence either way. Putin seems more sensible, to be honest, although I suppose he could just be stalling.

Huh, everybody has been calling for independent investigations? Russia was last to the party (first had to get their story straight).

Sure they are hardy i don't doubt that but after sitting outside for months getting abused by rain, wind and dirt even hardy things start having issues if they aren't properly looked after. Its easier to just try and protect them than have to do all that maintenance. Ifs obviously not the only reason to wrap these things up, otherwise i wouldnt have seen this happening months ago.

It will be the duty of the squad operating the vehicle to keep it in a good clean condition, ive seen tanks at car washes before.
