KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Investigators are baffled as to how a man suffered second- and third-degree burns inside his apartment - even though the only sign of a fire was a candle in the bathroom.

Knoxville Fire Department crews found the 56-year-old victim inside his apartment bathroom Monday afternoon with third-degree burns to his face and second-degree burns to his hands.

He was found "moaning".

If I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over me, I'd be more than moaning, I'd be screaming blue murder

I call bs. I stopped believing in this when I stopped buying X-Files magazines from CNA during primary school. I've never read about SHC in a mainstream newspaper or news site.

That reminds me, when is Fringe on Mnet?

ETA: Ha, its on in 2 minutes. I'm so glad I didn't miss it.

yes, during highschooli was a bit of a freak, less than I am now and did some reading and research on this and there are a few documented cases where there is no explanation regarding the burning patterns.
Parts of the body were completely untouched by the flames, the bones have been completely consumed and only the immediate surrounding areas were burned.

One of the theories is that the body's mitochondria could actually be responsible if they are triggered to release all their energy at the same time. It could explain why certain parts of the body is completely untouched and other parts completely consumed.
In cell biology, a mitochondrion (plural mitochondria) is a membrane-enclosed organelle found in most eukaryotic cells.[1] These organelles range from 1–10 micrometers (μm) in size. Mitochondria are sometimes described as "cellular power plants" because they generate most of the cell's supply of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), used as a source of chemical energy. [2]
