Man on LSD leads police on chase, believes he's in 'Grand Theft Auto'
An Oregon man was arrested Saturday after he took LSD and led police on a chase because he believed he was in the video game "Grand Theft Auto."
KDRV reports troopers had been issued DUIs near a party in which they believed there was heavy drug and alcohol use. As officers were waiting for tow trucks to pick up the impounded cars, Anthony Clark, 23, entered the scene and stole one of the vehicles. Clark attempted to evade police by driving the wrong way on the highway and crashing through barriers.
After a long pursuit, police deployed spike strips and Clarks tires were deflated. Officers were able to slow Clark down and eventually stop him, only to have to chase him by foot after he escaped from the vehicle.
When Clark was in custody, he admitted to taking LSD earlier in the day, and he said he believed he was in "Grand Theft Auto" and the police were trying to catch him.
Clark is facing several charges including attempting to elude an officer in a vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.
