Was reading the Citizen this morning and saw him in a picture, while appearing in court. I cannot believe the nerve of this guys, rocking up to a court appearance wearing jeans, takkies and a jacket.
What a lack of respect, surely he can afford a suit.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the year 2008 and people pitch up at court in all sorts of outfits. Hell, Michael Jackson pitched up looking like Capn' Crunch at his trial. The only time you wear a suit is to a funeral but even that rule is being bent(slightly) judging by some of the funerals in the townships.

And last time I checked, he was charged with two counts of culpable homicide, not car hijacking.

WTF did he do, who said you need to go to court wearing a suit?

Respect the Court by wearing a suit? WTF

What is he up for? I mean merc is calling him scum so he must have murdered someone right?

Does wearing a suit mean you will get a lesser sentence?

We need a link before I can further comment. I was under the impression that this happened recently? If it did, it's disrespectful to dress like that. It's like going to a funeral with a bikini. And yeah, we need to know what he did. There is no info available yet.

He drove into the back of 2 people in a Jetta and the Jetta rolled, killing the 2 people inside. He was drunk and drove at high speed

If the only way you can defend yourself is by comparing yourself to Michael Jackson you don't have a very good case. :p

So when you go to an important business meeting, you rock up to see the CEO in jeans and T-shirt? Well it is the same thing, maybe you have never been to one of those meetings then. ;)
By dressing so casually, it shows no respect for the court or the judge/ magistrate.

Where does it state that not dressing in a suit is disrespecting a court?

Is it just some kind of unwritten rule? or is there an actual document stating that dressing in jeans a shirt and some takkies is disrespecting the court?

I am just wondering as i am the kind of guy who would dress like that for court, my job is pretty layed back so shorts and t-shirts with slops in summer and jeans t-shirts and takkie for winter. So if i murder someone and dress in a nice suit i might get a lighter sentence as i'm not disrespecting the court?

/puts flame suit on
