The fact is they suspended the only non ANC appointed person just before a meeting and failed to share information with him prior to the meeting (Did you read the article?)

This alone is a red flag. Why suspend the guy when the board has to vote on decisions (Assuming the chair is not a dictator), they could easily out vote him on decisions.

Bottom line is whether he is a good guy or not? Its highly suspicious to not share the details/ not invite to a meeting with the one person that might oppose you and be a thorn in your side.
yip.
The point is now that civil society (us) have no idea what happened in the meeting.

When kooburg goes boom, what's the size of the likely exclusion zone?
Well it wont go boom, it will melt down.

  • 5km radius of the source: people in this area would be at highest risk for radiation exposure.
  • 16km radius of the source: people could potentially be harmed by direct radiation exposure.
  • 80km radius of the source: radioactive materials may contaminate water supplies, crops and livestock

Just leaving this here for completeness sake, because Gweezy is simply not fit for purpose in his portfolio (one has to wonder whether he is fit for any position in the executive) :

Anyway, as previously stated I am not against an extension of Koeberg (and I do live in Melkbos), but I am concerned that civilian oversight has been curtailed by this idiot.

I hope De Ruyter has something to say about it. If he does, he should do it soon.

I will however give this some further thought and write to the presidency tomorrow. I will cc to offices of De Ruyter, the mayor, Steenhuisen, and for fun, the FF+ and the EFF.

Feel free to do the same. We supposedly live in a democracy and all the email addresses are available online.

There is an additional email addy that might be useful (but not so far in my opinion): public.participation@capetown.gov.za

Gweezy continually talks about a "just transition", but as far as I can see has done nadda about it. This refers:

Oh, can folks stop feeding the champion ANC troll / shill, please.

Well with coal-for-brains mantashe is charge, I can almost certainly predict and guarantee a disaster in the making, for which the anc will simply shrug and blame apartheid.

The suspension was recommended by the chair of the board, Gwede did not just wake up and suspend the guy.

I know we love victims but real life works differently. The guy must still be heard in a fair manner though, not in any way implying he is guilty.

What I am only saying is that he is not automatically the good guy because he was suspended.
Yeah but I think Becker was asking some difficult questions and the chair of the board, being an anc deployed cadre, did not have the matric certificate, common knowledge, honesty or integrity to answer correctly, and thus asked his anc slave master to remove the obstacle. Have you ever seen how quickly you are removed from home affairs when you ask them difficult questions like "how did you get your matric", "who did you pay to get this job", "how can you afford a R1M BMW if you work as a clerk" or "do you know how to be honest", well I'll be you Becker asked something similar.

I am honestly not surprised that all this rubbish makes perfect sense to you.

I don't know why he was suspended, maybe you can ask others who already seem to have plenty of stories about it.

Quickly tell me why is this guy the only one not appointed by the ANC? I wanna see something.
The appointment of the NNR board by cabinet was done under a veil of secrecy and zero public oversight and participation.

OUTA fought for nearly a year for the civil society appointments to the board and for greater transparency.

And who get's kicked out?....not one of the Civil Society cadres.

Just implying questions like that was put to an Home Affairs employee, makes you sound like a nutcase.

If you really asked those questions whilst their, with me in the queue or vicinity....I would have thrown you out myself.

This is why everybody that opposes ineffective government in this country is seen the same way, subsequently making valid arguments moot, as the opposition is blinded by "our" ignorant behavior.

Fuk me...

At least you know that all the appointments were done by cabinet aka the ANC, including Becker, now try explaining it to the others, I am really getting tired of this nonsense.

It is very suspicious that becker was kicked out in this fashion, but I can't say I'd actually want him on the board since he comes with a negative agenda towards nuclear and koeberg from what I remember.

Well I suppose it's one way to oust the DA from a Major Metro.

But all the assets, lives etc that will be lost will be horrendous, not that the anc cares because remember the anc first, as quoted by the anc many times, then comes themselves as seen many times and only then the people/country.

Good point - Personally I'm pro nuclear but I don't think that is the best way to deal with opposing views.

I'm not pro-nuclear, but I do feel that having someone on the board who is vehemently opposed to Nuclear seems to bit problematic for me... For me there needs to be 2 Civil appointments, 1 negative and 1 positive.
