Well, you would think this is absolutely obvious wouldn't you?

How could you not look at the tender specifications, well I'm sure it has happened alot.

Trevor Manuel for president as usual..

He is absolutely not interested

http://www.mg.co.za/articlePage.aspx?articleid=284608&area=/breaking_news/breaking_news__national/

"I have been a minister for 12 years and am pretty free ... I'm not interested in the position as president or deputy president, not because of my race or that I might not be competent enough; I'm just very attached to my freedom,"

so what you're saying is that there is no-one in the anc with actual competence, deserving of the position.

i is dismayed. no other minister has displayed the required skills from my point of view

Umm, I'm not sure how you made the logical leap from "I'm not interested in the position" to "there is no-one in the anc with actual competence".

And for various reasons, Tony Leon's chances of becoming president are significantly lower than Manuel (yes, even though he's said he doesn't want the position) - for which we should all be grateful.

True, it's been remarked that the financial ghouls seem to have their heads on straight. Probably the least likely to fall into the race-policy trap. I'd support Tito if he ran.

What would be the required skills in your point of view?

Levelheadedness, ability to weigh what's best for the country without weighing the past in the equation. A healthy interest in the citizens of the country, beyond the ruling elite and cursory lip-service to the 'previously disadvantaged'. The demonstrated ability to run an organization smoothly and efficiently.

What would be the highlights of incompetence of Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka? From DTI - DME - Vice Presidency?

There was a concern when she left DTI and even a greater concern when she left the DME from both within the respective departments and private sector.

That is because of her competency to properly perform a specified job. Probably the biggest reason the President employed her.

I just thought the statement in this forum "no-one in the anc with actual competence" shows that someone perhaps lacks competence to recognize competency. Sometimes, people tend to be blissfully self-assured that others are incompetent.

She seems a (dare I say valid?) choice though her major achievements do not seem to be listed anywhere. However, when the time comes Z supporters are likely to raise hell about her alleged 'role' in oilgate, gravy plane. Also Z supporters seem apparently sexist (No woman-president boards et al) is not likely to help her either.

You are right about JZ supporters. I doubt she will be president myself. Having said that, who would have thought Mbeki would replace JZ with Bulelani's wife?

Racial representivity is an evil! It is equal to eugenics in the sense that it is social engineering. Trying to maintain a social order is just as evil as trying to create one through unnatural methods.

It saddens me that the folks who run this country cannot see this or have nothing to say when they do. Support should be given to the poor, be they black, white or purple.

I also have respect for Mr Manuel, but even he's got errors in judgement. The South Africa of the future will be a frightening place if this continues...

If this continues, we will all, black, white etc stand on this soil with tears in our eyes, kissing a wasted history and ruined future goodbye...

you know guys...a few days ago we decided we needed another member of staff in our technical department...so I asked personnel to get some cv's in.

They handed me a bunch today to go through, but not one of them had
1) a name
2) age
3) race
4) address
listed...all I had to look at was their qualifications and previous work experience, the rest was blacked out. I was told to put the cv's for the people I wanted to interview one side and they would then arrange for the folks to come in and see me.

I actually felt LEKKA because I was NOT allowed to form an opinion of the person, except based on their skills and qualifications. It feels gooooooooddd....and I know I can get the right candidate in.
