That sounds great and its good that you feel LEKKA.

Personally, I don't read much into CV's.

They handed me a bunch today to go through, but not one of them had
1) a name
2) age
3) race
4) address
listed...all I had to look at was their qualifications and previous work experience, the rest was blacked out
.

This is something we have to do in South Africa

That's amazing werner. One of the great things of working in the uk (even a lowly job) is the playing field is flat and you know you are working with no preferential treatment, or being treated differently to anybody else in the world.

you know guys...a few days ago we decided we needed another member of staff in our technical department...so I asked personnel to get some cv's in.

They handed me a bunch today to go through, but not one of them had
1) a name
2) age
3) race
4) address
listed...all I had to look at was their qualifications and previous work experience, the rest was blacked out. I was told to put the cv's for the people I wanted to interview one side and they would then arrange for the folks to come in and see me.

I actually felt LEKKA because I was NOT allowed to form an opinion of the person, except based on their skills and qualifications. It feels gooooooooddd....and I know I can get the right candidate in.

Actually it is against the constitution to discriminate on someone regarding Race, Sexual orientation, Gender etc, but it is the cornerstone of the working environment due to Government policies. But it is excused as adjusting the wrongs of the past. So that makes the constitution a few sheets of meaningless words.

You cannot be half pregnant. Neither can you have a constitution that is held as ransom by a political party. A constitution is a constitution, NO if maybe buts in it.

Today it is white vs black. Tomorrow it is going to be Xhosa vs Zulu or whatever? It is a lose/lose scenario.

The playing field has been over leveled – now let’s start getting going on with our tasks in life. These double standards just create new breeding grounds for evil, conflict and corruption.

Thanks for your comment Werner, I support your view.

Cape Town - When awarding tenders for government projects it was important not only to look at the issues of race and gender representivity, but also at the tender specifications, Finance Minister Trevor Manuel said on Tuesday.

The most important criterion to look at when deciding which tender to
choose is the personal bank account deposit each applicant is willing to
provide in argument for his selection. Race, sex and value for money are
just red herrings :).
