Mashaba: I'll leave if DA is taken over by Right Wing elements

Racist to the core. The DA needs to rid themselves of these elements.
Max du Preez had a similar narrative when being interviewed by Zille. What I wished both him and Mashaba would do is explain the specifics, or give examples, of their sentiments that a type of a "race-filter" is required when dealing with specific groups. Without it, their positions imply that certain groups have chips on their shoulders that need to be carefully managed when you engage with them.

I take this back. It sucks balls that he is leaving, but if you read his statement it actually confirms what some of us have felt and even lead to the way we vote:

You vote for DA local government (because of the work Mashaba has done) but not DA for government because they are a bunch of clowns. Some of us even felt that if Herman was to start his own party we would vote for him.

It's a huge loss that will be felt by the poor the most and I don't think the Blue Circus will take control of JHB any time soon. I really doubt a coalition agreement will be made and come next local elections.... lol, the DA is in for pain.
Those voting for the ANC or EFF will bring their own pain over them. If color is the only thing that matters to you then you deserve what you get. Sien is glo voel is wragtig.

The DA now needs to be swift in cleaning house. There'll be kicking and screaming to and on all available platforms by those implicated in this activity; Zille is the right person to guide the party through this shiitstorm.

The longer they take, the more time their detractors have to paint them in the political light they need. Our electorate is fickle and the quicker this happens, the quicker people will forget and move on.
It is easy to destroy but it takes a long time to regain the trust of the people, ask the ANC or COPE, it is going to be a long journey to being what the were after they are done with the destruction. The ANC is lucky in a way because after they messed up Cyril came along and the DA started their own destruction followed by the EFF, they are going to benefit handsomely out of this.

Interesting, for me the DA has no true leaders anymore - the content of Herman's speech are the type of thinking we need (I don't always agree with some of his Xenophobic views). A more credible, authentic party with leaders needs to step up and become an opposition party.

If you look at how the party handled Zille's previous comments, De Lillle's exit and Troillip - it has become a disgrace.

The DA could've offered COPE a home and as such gained support from disillusioned ANC voters, aside from again building themselves into credible opposition. But they didn't. They relied on the narrative which speaks to a principled voter, your regular ANC/EFF voter, to keep on voting for the DA: populist politics.

...and she starts. Lol

That isn't her starting anything. The 702 interview is in the public domain and Zille is ReTweeting it under transparency. She would however start should she engage in an argument with the users within the comment section.

Win for the ANC in CoJ: they tabled a, withdrawn, motion of no-confidence against Mashaba who now resigns a month later. I wonder of the DA can capitalize on this...but how?

When will minorities in this country realise they are fighting for survival?
Survival trumps principle.

We have to secure democracy before we can build a non racial utopia. Our democracy is hanging by a thread.

Seems we are back to the situation where the DA is a white party and no sensible alternative exists for black middle class voters.

Only positive here is that it creates more space for the sane part of the ANC to split off when their unholy alliance becomes untenable.

The DA imploding and being forced to reset was inevitable imo, the classical liberal values are incompatible with many voters and what they believe is required to address the injustices of the past. At least they can focus on their core electorate and make their piece with opposition politics in all other provinces except WC.

"First time in years I have retweeted Eusebius"
It was unnecessary. A retweet and engagement would suffice in situations like this. I expect this tit-for-tat nonsense from Mzwandile Masina. She now leads a troubled party that needs mature guidance to get through the muck.

Which other parties values are more compatible with those voters?

That;s not what he meant. Its about Zille throwing an unnecessary punch to Eusebus. She's is planting the seed for a potential unneeded twitter outburst, something the DA don't need. So much for staying in my lane...
