Mashaba: I'll leave if DA is taken over by Right Wing elements

Fascinating how certain DA politicians, using journalists and social media, managed to cultivate this image that they're the future of the DA and under attack from right-wing elements within, only to get voted out and ousted by their own party.

The amusing part is these people were so desperate to join the "white right wing party" in the first place. Why? Because they were lost in the political wilderness. They claimed Zuma as an outsider who had risen to the top of the ANC, corrupted the party's supposed principles and forced them out. Pretty much exactly what they've attempted to do to the DA.

So assuming he quits the DA:

1. He leaves for good. **** that guy for punishing the residents because he doesn't like Helen being white (because that's what it sounds like)

2. He defects to EFF and attempts/succeeds in becoming the mayor. JHB now belongs to the EFF. **** that guy.

3. ...?

I take this back. It sucks balls that he is leaving, but if you read his statement it actually confirms what some of us have felt and even lead to the way we vote:

You vote for DA local government (because of the work Mashaba has done) but not DA for government because they are a bunch of clowns. Some of us even felt that if Herman was to start his own party we would vote for him.

It's a huge loss that will be felt by the poor the most and I don't think the Blue Circus will take control of JHB any time soon. I really doubt a coalition agreement will be made and come next local elections.... lol, the DA is in for pain.

Zille elected over Trollip, Waters and Walters . Mashaba now resigning over Zille's election. Expect Mmusi to do the same, closely followed by Van Damme, if not before.
Trollip, Water and Walter's are still part of the DA though? Are they now leaving? The Mashaba resignation does ring true with what you're saying (just read his statement)

It was a poor choice of words on my part. Sensationalist a bit.

Herman Mashaba is running away from the city’s ‘financial crisis’, says ANC

The ANC in the greater Johannesburg region has that Herman Mashaba is running away from the financial crisis he created following his resignation on Monday as the mayor of the city.

In a statement issued soon after Mashaba announced his resignation, the ANC said it is not shocked by the mayor’s decision.

“Mashaba’s resignation has very little to do with the election of Helen Zille as the DA’s Chairperson. His resignation is informed by the dire financial crisis that he has plunged the City of Johannesburg into. He has over time been able to get away with lies about the financial affairs of the City.

When did he join the DA? Wasn't she still the leader when he joined?
EDIT: OK so he joined in 2014, Mmusi only became the leader in 2015.
So if the DA under Helen was good enough to join? Then why resign now?

The Helen of today is different to the Helen of 2014, would you agree?

The DA now needs to be swift in cleaning house. There'll be kicking and screaming to and on all available platforms by those implicated in this activity; Zille is the right person to guide the party through this shiitstorm.

The longer they take, the more time their detractors have to paint them in the political light they need. Our electorate is fickle and the quicker this happens, the quicker people will forget and move on.

This is an absurd belief from Zille.

#HermanMashaba “election of Zille as chair of federal council is victory for people who are opposed to my belief systems. I cannot reconcile myself with group of people who think race is irrelevant when dealing with social economic conditions of people”
Racist to the core. The DA needs to rid themselves of these elements.
