oil price less than half it was at previous increases.... and we get a MASSIVE <R2 reduction … thank you so much!
of course we know a huge % of petrol price = taxes, and that will only go UP

i guess its massive in terms of what we usually get, even anything at all
still... Corona will have a massive effect on the world economy.... but perhaps the word 'massive' should not be used in these kind of articles, it just p!sses most of us off :)

I still think the price of fuel is massively inflated!

The government is ripping off everyone.

Let me explain

Fuel price I will calculate on price per barrel of oil in ZAR followed by the fuel price for that month.

Each Barrel of oil produces 74.73L of Fuel (47% per Barrel)

DateRand per BarrelFuel Price47% of barrelCost per LDifferenceTax

*Overall, taxes on fuel increased from R1.76 in 2008 to R5.63 in 2019 - a 220% rise.
This is how fuel taxes increased on petrol since 2008:

What is the government doing with all the Tax collected?
I feel that Tax should be a public Ledger where the people of South Africa can see what they are doing with our Tax contributions.

Everyone just accepts the price and celebrates when it goes down but nobody actually looks at the historical pricing.

How could we pay R7 when it was R400 per barrel of oil and now we pay R14 when its R400 per barrel of oil.

Wouldn't it be fantastic too if they had like a minister in charge of the taxes that worked in the govt that would a couple times a year be on tv and explain it to us and not only that, give us a big book detailing where it was going? I think you're onto something.

Budgets and expenses etc are public record and they are even discussed on parliamentary tv - if you want to know finer detail then send a PAIA request to whichever dept you want.

Seeing 'just braai a tjop and don't give fukks' isn't working, shouldn't we try something else?
Like what? The voting majority don't care and the few that do don't have the numbers to do anything. If we did do you think we'd be at R18 to the dollar?
