he register will require all candidates to record all details of the cellphone or any other electronic device that they will be using during the examination period.”

Why are cellphones allowed in the exam hall?

Not usually, seems like a new thing. I mean when I had to write last year you had to hand them in (if you had one on you anyway) before you sat down in the exam hall, otherwise, if they found a phone on you while writing, you're screwed.

Some examinations have rules allowing for textbooks to be kept as a reference, IIRC. Doesn't apply to all schools.

Since many schools now have digital textbooks on tablets and phones, it's necessary to register them.

Im feeling old here. When I was in school. Phones werent allowed at all. And if you were caught with one anytime you only got it back after the term had ended....

Get a real calculator. This is a bad idea.
Is it?

How many of us that need to do anything today say "Oh, I won't use Google because I was forced to know how to work this out in my head in school, so let me shutdown the computer, hide the phone and get a piece of paper and quickly work this problem out...."

I'm not sure about today. When I was in matric, some subjects like music and woodworking allowed textbooks in with you?

I never took them myself, just vaguely remember my friends talking about it.
