Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance and ward councillor Henro Kruger said the community had managed to find a willing sponsor who would buy the school a new water tank.

"It's a shame that we have to go to the private sector to ask for funds when taxpayer's money is being wasted at a drop of a hat," he said.

Maybe the government should start lowering taxes if private companies are gonne be doing the governments job.

Too true, DigitalSoldier.

And anyways, how did the E240 become unreliable and too expensive to repair? Misuse and or abuse of public property?

R39k to repair hee "unreliable and unsafe" merc...so it makes more sense to spend R500k instead.

ooookkkk...

may I just add, that whomever paid for the school water thingy (probably some DA connections) scored themselves mega-brownie points, and it only cost them R10k. you cant buy that type of goodwill generally.

it does not matter what any other party does, these ppl still vote for the ANC why i dont know, i think its because they dont want a white government again due to to the past and would rather vote for a party of curruption than a party who would make a difference

*The mayor's phone rings.*

Linah Malatjie : 'Hallo!'

Voice : 'Mayor, we seem to have a problem. Some people are upset that you'd rather spend R500 000 on a new car, while there is no service delivery in the community.'

Linah Malatjie : 'Yo, it must be the white people again!'

Voice : 'No mayor, it's mostly black people complaining'.

Linah Malatjie : 'Who are these black people? Should we arrest them?'

Voice : 'Mayor, the black people complaining are actually the people that voted you into office. You know, who entrusted you to uplift the community & provide service delivery?'

Linah Malatjie : 'Eish!. I must phone the Mercedes-Benz dealership again. I don't have time for this!'
