Have you tried the restore DVD? A while back, I got me an 8GB flash drive onto which I installed a very basic OS and Techtool/DiskWarrior/FileSalvage. A very useful item to have to recover naughty won't start macs. Consider doing the same in future. For now, try to get it up with the Restore DVD. Then, Disk Utility and explore your repair options.

I had one instance where none of the above worked but I was still able to start in target mode and mount it on another machine, from which the repair could be done.

Sitting in the same situation - my MB 2,1 won't boot either... No video on external monitor & the ram & hdd works fine in another MB. It does come on, but the white light thingie just stays lit the whole time. And the only way to switch it off is to pull the battery...

So I'm starting to look for a logic board or a working MB with a broken display...

Or anybody knows of someone that does logic board repairs? It's older than a year & no applecare extended warrenty...

What is the average going price for a new logic board?

I got quoted 10 000 for a mac mini logic board, when the cost price on that mac was 8000. Replacement value, also 8000. my problem was only a busted ethernet port so i sold the machine for 4000. (Airport still works).

Totally sucks :(

Check this thread I saw, sounds
kinda similar.
http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/398002412041

Also definitely check out the apple support forums.

Incase you didn't read this, I came across this link.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377

Seems to be a know error, and apple will fix for free. There is another thread here about a macbook air with a problem apple will fix for free, see if he manages to get core to fix it and maybe these okes will fix yours as well :)
