I bet you in tomorrows paperz they'll say:

McBride was injured in a car crash; cause: mechanical failure. He knocked his head, and then became delusional, thus making people around him to believe he was under the influence of alcohol. An eyewitness who tried to help McBride said he could catch a scent of whiskey as he approached the police chief. According to the police spokesperson Ms X, someone at a Christmas party spilled liquor over McBride. X explained that "McBride threatened onlookers with a weapon as he was delusional due to the knock on his head", and not the fact that he didn't want anyone to believe he was under the influence of alcohol. No charges have been placed.

Guess what - very similar media statement -

McBride had left for the metro police year-end function around 16:00 after he had been shopping with his family, Nina said.
What are the chances that no alcohol was available at this Christmas party?

You see – when people start lying, they blunder. Now the man is this BIG family man who does shopping with them and outside his duties attends a Christmas Party. Only problem is – what was he doing SHOPPING IN OFFICE HOURS?

Now that is another problem – he was AWOL (in Afrikaans – hy het gedros) on tax payers expenses.

Thanks for highlighting that one.

I'm not defending him but at the same time i dont think we have enough facts to question the reason why he was shopping during office hours..

Maybe things were quiet at the office so he decided to get out for a little while.. Maybe he was at the office till 11pm the previous night..

We're not in a position to question these things..

Anyhow like anyone in his position, he should still get fired for driving drunk

edit:

Wow, clicked a few of the previous links for mcbride didnt know he was such a dirty f@#$

"Johannesburg - Former death row inmate Robert McBride said on Tuesday there is no aspect of his past which he is ashamed of. "

"McBride's past included allegations of gun running, operating as a national intelligence agent, a spell in a Maputo jail and also famously the Magoo's Bar bombing in Durban, which killed three women. "

McBride is just a common thug, his behaviour in the past is testimony in itself.
We don't know the facts of this case yet and might not ever know, but it will make interesting reading no less ;)

Alcohol (too much drinks) can confuse you :D

So I guess there is a bit of truth in what his wife said.

To be honest, We will probably never find out if he was driving drunk or not, he's a struggle hero so that kind of thing will be buried v quickly, but as they have publically admitted he was shooping during official office hours, we should demand a full investigation as that is an unacceptable waste of tax payers money, and we ULTIMATELY are his employers so he is accountable to the public of this country.

They should have taken a blood sample and had it tested by an independent lab, then there'd be no dispute.

They can't do that Syndyre, he's so important. It'd be an invasion of his privacy etc etc etc. and even if they had done so, that one sample would disappear in amount 1000's of others and never be found again.

This is starting to become standard practice in this country.

Totally none related, but one of these days when these daft "motor cavalcades" come barrelling up behind me, I ain't gonna move. They have no right to speed or anything of that nature, and of course I object to valuable police vehicles being used so they can get to their next appt on time.

They'll never do it I know, but thats what they should do. Then again the police and govt are definitely becoming above the law.

Doubt there's even that much of a security threat against them. Considering the crime problem I could think of better ways to use the police vehicles!

Johannesburg - Police are still investigating charges surrounding Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride's car accident in Centurion last week.

"The investigations are continuing," said Gauteng police spokesperson Govindsamy Mariemuthoo.

"Once finalised, it will be placed before the director of public prosecutions who will then make a decision or whether to prosecute or not."

Two cases are being investigated by Erasmia police in Pretoria.

A case of reckless or negligent driving was opened against McBride who had head injuries after he lost control of his car last Thursday. :)

A docket with two charges - crimen injuria and assault - was opened against metro police officers by a husband and wife who were at the accident.

Metro police officers travelling the same route on the R511 as McBride were the first to arrive at the accident.

Mariemuthoo said the second docket was opened against "police" and did not specify individuals.

The case was opened at Randburg, but transferred to Erasmia as the accident fell under that station's jurisdiction.

Controversy surrounding the crash has included allegations that McBride was under the influence of alcohol and that metro police assaulted and threatened bystanders.

Mariemuthoo said there was no time-frame on how long the investigations would take and that it could be weeks or months.

McBride was released from hospital last Friday. His most-serious injuries were to his head and he also had broken ribs, cuts and bruises.

McBride probe 'may take forever, or at least until the public forgets about it'

Johannesburg - Police are still ignoring charges surrounding glorious struggle hero Robert McBride's car accident in Centurion last week.

"The investigations are as far as they'll ever get" said Gauteng police disinformation mouthpiece Govindsamy Mariemuthoo.

"When pigs fly, it will be placed before the director of public prosecutions who will then decide not to prosecute."

Two cases are being investigated by Erasmia police in Pretoria.

A case of reckless or negligent driving was opened against McBride who had head injuries after he lost control of his car while performing a drunken Michael Schumacher imitation last Thursday.

A docket with two charges - crimen injuria and assault - was opened against jackbooted Metro thugs by a husband and wife who were intimidated at the accident.

Metro enforcers conveniently travelling the same route on the R511 as McBride were the first cover-up personnel to arrive at the accident.

Mariemuthoo said the second docket was opened against "police" and did not specify individuals, allowing the SAPS to make no attempt to follow up and charge the thugs responsible.

The case was opened at Randburg, but transferred to Erasmia as this would create more red tape.

Controversy surrounding the crash has included allegations that McBride was under the influence of alcohol and that metro bullies assaulted and threatened bystanders, including illegally intimidating them with firearms. Also unexplained is the presence of an assault rifle in McBride's car. McBride was quoted as saying "Awuleth umshini wami."

Mariemuthoo said there was no time-frame on how long the investigations would take and that it could be weeks or months, but was more likely to take years or be dropped entirely.

I'm sorry, my glasses must be skew... that's what I read. No mention of an alcohol blood test, I note. This bugger's going to get off scot free...
