Ok since we had no power since last Thursday and still don't have, it looks like my Lead acid/gel battery is packing up. Strange as its not that old and I have never taken it below 75% except for this week twice to about 50%. Maybe its just not charging enough with the generator(it show fully charged). Will see when power is back again.

Anyway, so I would probably soon be looking at a replacement. Now it seems that lifepo4 would work on the Mecer. Now the question. From what I have read it seems that the best is to charge them only to 80%, or are they not like phone batteries?
Now if I pay a lot of money for a battery and load shedding does not really happen often anymore. Will I sit in a situation in a year or two where the lithium battery is also not very good anymore and it haven't really been used, just sat there fully charged the whole time without use?

LFP will be fine left on float charge. I wouldn’t worry. Just add that extra fan and keep it on 10A.

OK so when not in use they must be at 50% charge. Seems cumbersome as then when I suddenly will need them, they will not be charged.
I just let mine charge fully and then disconnect the power the next day. Then just leave it till the next power outage which is usually at least every second week and charge it to full afterwards or otherwise if no outage I leave it for a month and then top it up again. Had no problems so far. At this stage it looks as if we are in for loadshedding this winter so actually no problem at all.

I left mine plugged in for those 300 loadshitting free days. Still works like new. Also, because it was plugged in, it kept things on during brownouts and local power outages.

Mine is not permanently connected it is in the garage, I just use a suicide cable to plug it into an extention lead to a wallplug in the kitchen when needed.

Mines permanently connected to PC and wifi and a suicide cable into the wallplug that I leave off for when the power is out proper so I can flip switches on DB before turning off plug powering inverter then turning on suicide cable plug to power the house.
