She would also be entitled to claim UIF sickness benefits if she is unable to work. Employees can currently claim up to 8 months of illness benefits but this will be increased to 12 months in terms of an imminent amendment to the Act.

No. Not if she is employed.

I was a member of GEMS (ONYX) and when I enquired as to why I don't get the subsidy, I was told that I had to sort it out myself. Fortunately, I have the name of the person who told me that

If the employee is unable to work for more than 14 days due to illness then she can claim sickness benefits from the Dept of Labour. This is not the same thing as unemployment benefits following termination of employment. The person can still be employed but is unable to work.

Any government employee who retires from government employ is entitled to stay on GEMS on a subsidized basis till death. My wife's grandfather worked for the roads department. Had huge issues with his feet and was medically retired at age 51. He is now 91 and still retired, earning an OK pension, and still on GEMS.

Just for interest sake. I saw a few clips on Youtube, people who claimed that CBD drops helps with the tremors and other symptoms. How many of those is fake clips? I would really like to hear from someone with real Parkinson who tried it out. Hope it's not in appropriate to ask.
