Megsapp Feedback and Support Thread

Yes, the right contract offers amazing value, sim only contracts obviously.
But yes I can understand peasants and money management don't always go together so prepaid for you lot.
Actually the only real provider that offers good amounts of data is Telkom on sim only data contracts. Also enabling me to get multi-sims and sharing the data between my phones and family. (Mtn and Vodacom offer this service but you need to be on those VIP contracts. No use to me)

The issue still remains that once travelling into the rural areas Telkom has no signal. This is where Megsapp comes into play for me. The never expiring data enables me to just switch data sim to megsapp while travelling and then enjoying MTN signal in the rural areas.

No other reason for me to use Megsapp.

I only use around 2-3gb per month. The 75gb I still have will last me till I'm gone.

That's what I have on MTN, it's not anything special you don't need VIP anything but it's only offered on certain contracts like the Mychoice range and a few others. MTN has amazing coverage.

WTF are those prices, 15GB for R219, 30gb not much better, insane
For the odd weekend away where there's no wifi and doing some work while waiting at the cricket field for my son this deal is perfect for me. This month I bought 20 GByte on MTN and I have not even done 3 GByte. So 30 GByte will last me several months. I will be sticking this sim in a mifi.

Super frustrated with Megsapp!!
There's no BF option to buy a sim with the 30 GByte bundle included that never expires.
The lowest Rand value option to buy a physical sim is a 15 GB bundle for 30 days at R200 which I don't want.

Then I thought of porting one of my existing simcards. They do, apparently, having a porting process. Went through the steps, but it fails at the point of entering the sim card serial number (ICCD). It fails with "The serial number provided is not a valid SIM card". I tried to port an MTN and Telkom sim that I have.
After trying 3 times in a row with the porting process, you get a link to click to whatsapp chat with an agent. The link fails in Whatsapp with "QR code no longer valid".

Their app is useless too, it just routes to pages in a browser, or opens whatsapp.

It seems they don't want new business.

Can't you just get a free esim and then buy one of the BF data deals with that?

I don't have a device that supports esim.
Do you know anyone with a phone with esim, because as far as I am aware you can transfer data between sims so you can get the eSim and the data now using the app and then once you've managed to get the physical sim or one of your sims ported you can send over the data from the eSim. Or you probably don't even need to load the eSim on any phone because surely you manage the data on the Megsapp app?

That's a good idea.
I see they sell sims at Tekkie Town. I am going to try that first.

Just a quick update, bit of a facepalm, I misunderstood/misread the porting process. You FIRST have to get a megsapp sim. Then you can port any number ONTO that sim.

Yes I was wondering about that, your earlier replies implied you would use the same sim but "port" it to Megsapp.
Should go through now when you have a megsapp sim to port to

Got my sim at Mr Tekkie.
Self-RICA was virtually instant. After buying an airtime voucher and loading the recharge pin via *136# I could login on the app.
Glad to be up and running!
I see the regular price for non-expiring data is 12.1 GByte (11 GB plus free 10%) for R239.
The BF deal is 30 GByte for R349. The effective BF discount per GByte is then 41.1%. How many of these non-expiring BF deals to buy...
