Men and women in the office: Are compliments taboo?

My colleagues would love compliments like this.

But if I do give compliments like this, I'd have to give to as many as possible otherwise some ladies will get jealous.

Don't pee on your own doorstep. Or at least don't get caught :)

We often give compliments at the office..

Its the norm, and its not taken the wrong way at all.

Compliments should be sincere.. Don't compliment someone just because you are trying to be nice. A genuine compliment will be picked up on by the person and they will love it.

I've received a few, the creepiest being that I smell nice. Would never give one to any ladies though, just a sexual harassment case waiting to happen imo.

I'm the IT in the article... but then in your head you're going to say "that's a nice dress" and it comes out "nipples.....".

I like it when people tell me I smell nice. It can be a great compliment.

This reminds me of someone's sig.

"If a dwarf tells you that your hair smells nice, could that be considered as sexual harassment?"

One lady told me I have a nice body, she then blushed like hell as though she said something out loud that was supposed to stay in her head.

One of the girls I work with did her hair up the one day. It looked nice so I told her.

No drama followed said compliment.

I think it is just about what the compliment is and the place it is coming from. If you work with them closely enough to feel that you can compliment them on an outfit, accessory, hairstyle etc... Then you probably know where the line is. As already said, if the compliment is genuine (And innocent) then nothing is wrong with it.

A: Your dress looks really beautiful, where did you buy it?
B: You look so hot in that dress, I want to tear it off.

Same compliment, yet we all know which one is appropriate in normal situations that do not involve your significant other, or a person that you are seriously trying to lay.
