AND....
*drumroll*
Button to race alongside Hamilton next year!~

http://www.f1times.co.uk/mercedes-confirm-brawn-buy-in-report-1193.html
Mercedes have now confirmed it has sold it's shares in McLaren, and acquired 75.1% of Brawn GP in a deal which will see the team renamed Mercedes GP from 2010 onwards.

According to the BBC the move will see Button move to McLaren to partner Lewis Hamilton, whilst Nico Rosberg will partner Nick Heidfeld at Mercedes GP.

Whilst Rosberg is almost certain to join the Brackley team, Heidfeld's seat is speculation as Haug has been in negotiations with the German driver.

Ross Brawn will continue as team principal.

It is now also believed that Button will be joining McLaren, on a salary double that of Brawn GP. However the deal isn't all about the money McLaren are offering, sources have said he thinks it more likely that McLaren will be more competitive.

McLaren's engine contract with Mercedes will continue past the contracted date of 2011, but through until 2015.

I am keen on this deal...

Interesting move, clearly profit margins at Merc have been healthy, and they splashing out on a new team. I started supporting Mclaren because of Merc in the 90s, but I think I'm going to stick with Mclaren.

So the Germans are going for an all German team, and Mclaren will probably opt for Button over the more expensive Kimi, so creating an all British team. I call already hear the World War jokes from the Brit fans next year :D

Merc: why doesn't Mclaren have to diversify and have a non-Briton racer?
Mclaren: because you lost the f**king war!

Commentor: the last time a Briton flew circles around a German like this, it was night time, and Dresden was on fire!

Non need to wait - they have a brit running the team and it's based in Bramley... the Brits won and today they still run Merc - end of story ;)

'Button agrees three-year McLaren contract'

According to the Guardian, Button 'has agreed terms to join McLaren on a £6m-a-year deal and could sign his formal three-year contract to partner Lewis Hamilton in an all-British line-up within the next few days.

I dont know about the credibility of The Guardian, but they saying agreed to terms with Mclaren, for what is really a low salary for a bloody World Champion, and its half what Hamilton earns!

This would mean that expensive Kimi is out of teams to drive for. :(

Consider that it's more than Mercedes GP was offering... they aren't starting off on the right foot IMO.

Button must know he is lucky, he was a nobody, driving a crap car year after year after year and then got into a winning a car and won a championship after he looked like being out of f1

6m pound a year compared to how it could have ended cannot be that bad surely?

And to think, that according to some websites, Mclaren will have a car thats able to compete next year. He has a shot to actually defend his title.

But I reserve thoughts on next year's performance until testing season resumes. Its looking like a VERY interesting season next year. :D

Yeah - their second half of the season was a humdinger - Hamilton was one of the highest scoring drivers in the second half of the season and the final few races were very promising...

These reports that Button was offered more to stay at Brawn than he was offered at McLaren are nonsense. He was asking to get some of the pay dip he took back and they apparenly couldn't meet it otherwise he wouldn't be considering other options.
