How does one lose a R400k deposit?

The deposit is refundable...

nope its not, but i believe they getting a lawyer involved. I think they order the car specifically for u

Not 100% correct.

Yes there is fee's involved for ordering a car, if it had set extras done and had to be made to a custom colour with custom interrior and so forth yes.

But there is a cool off period in any purchases these days which means if he canceled the deal within 7 days he must be given back his full R 400k and the car must be sold to someone else.

Who the fsck takes out finance on a car like that anyway, my guess is someone who cant afford it.

You would really be mad to finance that amount, i mean if he is doing so well why not just save up another mil or two together with his 400k and buy something else.

when u own just about everything u need and u earn a wack, whats R4.5m on a car.
take the value of your own car as a percentage of your salary, apply that as an average on R4.5mill to guestimate what this person could be earning- scary *****

I always thought people don't finances super expensive cars either.

But when working in ABSA vehicle finances, I got a call from a guy who wanted to buy a R1.6 million Ferrari. He had a R400,000.00 deposit and wanted to finance R1,2 million.

What pissed me off - jealous person as I can be ;) - was that he was 25 with a gross income of R100,000pm from a few businesses.

I sat there (being 24) with my R4300pm salary :(

No doubt he is earning big bucks i just don't understand why anyone earning so much would want to finance that car.

Lets see, if you can fork out 96k pm on a car repayment you are getting a big pay, why not just save that 100k pm for a while and buy something cash later on.

I really wanna cry when i see/hear of these fools.

btw its 96k pm over 54 months at 11% interest with a 400k deposit

Total repayment: R5.2 mil

He doesn't want to save up for a few months and buy something else, because he can AFFORD a fekking Ferrari! Why buy an M5 when you can have a Ferrari?

When you're that rich what's 4.5 or 5.5 bar?

I think the issue here is that the oke didn't have 4.5 bar RIGHT NOW. Get finance to get the car RIGHT NOW. Pay it off later (because he can).

Quite simple actually :p What can R4mil do for you over 54 months?

That car will lose value at a shocking rate.

I doubt the deposit mentioned in the OP was a finance deposit. On a car like that it's more likely that it was a deposit to get the dealership to just order the car.
