TikTok is eating Facebook's lunch

Facebook's user growth faltered in the latest quarter, the first stagnation in the social network's history, stoking concern that Meta Platforms Inc.'s flagship product and core advertising moneymaker has plateaued after years of consistent gains.

The company also gave a disappointing sales forecast for the current period, and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that Meta is facing serious competition for user time and attention, particularly from viral video-sharing app TikTok.

I promise it's not TikTok's fault, Zuck. It's the way you want to create a godawful dystopian world where we have no boundaries between Work and Personal life. Nobody but companies want that.

is but the opioid of the current generation -- like booze before that, .religion before them all ... you can only truly change the world, by changing yourself... start banning **** is not the solution... people have to start seeing beyond their perceived limitations....and see **** for what it is, ...

What the value/point of FB, Twatter, Tiktok?
I've tried them because of FOMO and found no value/use for them.
Please enlighten me.
 
And don't forget that the Chinese is spying on you with TikTok, amongst other platforms you agreed the T/C's to (Facebook, Twitter, the like)

They are not even just doing that.
TikTok actively promotes degenerate content in Western countries, whilst banning it in their own country.

Except it's algorithm based and using your view history as input, which means the user was already searching/watching degenerate content and the algorithm simply serves up more of it. Same with facebook newsfeeds, youtube recommendations, instagram suggestions, etc, so not exactly "that is bad, this is good", they are all equally bad.

So what you're generally saying then is that Western countries are degenerate by nature? :p

I'd rather ban books, movies and newspapers first. Oh and can we ban music as well.

The world would be so much better without all that cr@p

What I'm saying is what you put in is what you get out, the fact that there are a lot of degenerates in western countries is just a coincidence, there might equally be a lot of degenerates in eastern countries as well. *cough* japan.

As one of the earliest adopters of social media in the mid-2000s (think 2006?), I've now become rather disillusioned with it all. Even beyond the common criticism of increasing political polarisation, there are lots of other negative personal effects that it has on people. I deleted FB for 18 months around 2015 thinking I might be cutting myself off a bit, but it really didn't. Your proper friends should have your phone number and WhatsApp you etc.

If FB, Instagram etc. disappeared tomorrow, I think the whole world would be better off.

I agree with FaceBook and TikTok. However I use Twitter to keep up to date with my industry. I heavily curate and filter out my timeline to only show and follow people in my industry and to keep up to date of where the community is headed etc - I find that very useful. Other than that I have no use for Twitter.

I have not used FB in years and considering just deleting my account.

Agee, twitter is great to get opinions and views from leaders in their respective industries.

Just stay away from politics and race issues.
