Metrofibre implements fibre in PE by using micro-trenching technology

MetroFibre Networx has announced that it has installed fibre infrastructure in the Port Elizabeth suburb of Summerstrand using micro-trenching.

Micro-trenching is a fibre-laying technique that cuts a narrow and shallow trench next to a pavement, rather than traditional fibre laying techniques, which require much larger trenches to be dug.

Yeah would also like some pictures, hopefully this improves the speed of the rollouts!

"MetroFibre Networx said it completed the process of covering a 5km area in Summerstrand in under two weeks, resulting in significantly reduced levels of disruption to residents."

Seems so. Very cool

This would be excellent, I might actually get fiber by the time a new technology emerges!

Nothing new Aeonova360 and Vodacom has been deploying fibre like this for a while now.

Microtrenching is probably only suitable for a GPON network as less fibre needs to be layed.

It's a subtle way of advertising that Fibre in PE will soon be available :p
