MetroFibre reduces 500Mbps and 1Gbps prices, grandfathers and upgrades 200Mbps

MetroFibre cuts prices and doubles speeds of 200Mbps package

MetroFibre has dropped its 200Mbps symmetrical fibre package from its network, and customers subscribed to the service will be upgraded to 400Mbps for free.

A MyBroadband reader reported the changes after spotting the removal of the 200Mpbs package from Afrihost's website.

Keep an eye on your mail. 50 and 100Mbps clients are getting a promo upgrade to 400Mbps but we will share more info soon. Our Dev teams are working on implementing everything and once done we can share how things will work for everyone but it sure is exciting.

So you were on 50 originally, right?

To be fair, the R300 more is for the 500 package as there is no 200 anymore.

I think so, can't remember lol, I chopped and changed quite a bit in the beginning, think I even had 25mb at one stage and must have settled on 100mb being the sweetspot..

It will be 400/400 now. Because it's a new package Dev is still creating it and will be loaded on the site as soon as it's been created.

You're assuming he has a router with gigabit ports.
I upgraded my line to 1gbps and found my pc running at 100mbps. Found out that the little switch running between them wasnt gigabit, and replaced that.

I assume he got a router from Afrihost, which is free, which has gigabit ports and that he has a PC that's less than 12 years old. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
