In the times we are in, why would anyone pick up anyone's baby like this? Completely retarded behavior (or criminal but I don't know for sure)
Sometimes they are just too cute, but I do agree, I wouldn't do it but I do understand why others would and it probably won't look as suspicious as that.

They cowards, they would never try that on a man around his child.
In almost all these incidents its always when the mother has the child.
Agree. Easy targets and such, but he didn't count on the mother being super-alert.
The fact that he laughs and smiles afterwards trying to diffuse the situation tells me he's done this before and it seems more employees might also be involved.

The woman was strangely very calm about it
Ya, I thought so too but thinking back to when something similar happened to me I acted the same.
Its so weird because you get so confused as to what has happened, like it must be a mistake or something.

I'm generally the type of person to overreact so was weird to completely freeze when it happened to me.

She does explain in her post that she was shocked and his (and another employee's) nonchalant demeanour further confused her.
I do believe he wasn't the only actor in this.

Pick up the baby and play with it right there next to the mom, it would sound believable when you give your reasonable explanation, picking up the baby and disappearing around the nearest corner out of sight? Not so much, he is going to have a hard time explaining himself.
Or don't touch other peoples kids. That's enough of a reason to fire someone.

Yes, you expect them to make a run for it. Its part of the con that they act like everything is completely normal.

This kidnapper knew exactly what they were doing.

Nah, it isn't, humans are social beings and children even more so because they don't have any baggage, I've had random children running towards me with arms outstretched looking for hug, I had never had issues with angry parents thinking I am kidnapping the child, most probably because I don't immediately disappear into a corner with the kid or do suspicious things, what was I supposed to do, run away because some random child is coming towards me?

Of course I wouldn't be picking up babies minding their own business in prams or in shopping trolleys, but the notion of don't touch someone else's child is nonsense, we are not animals. Of course someday you might have some mad parent accusing you of things but so is life sometimes there's nothing you can do about it.

Don't mess with baby tiger in front of mama tiger. One knows it but learns it vividly after being a parent. :p

However, some mamas take it to quite extreme. Relax mom, I am just smiling to see your kid from 10m distane and don't you flipping see a child on my shoulder? Do you think I am capable of managing other one? FFS.

Yes, I grew up with chickens at home, I am thankful to still have two eyes.

I beg to differ. It's animals who take peoples children and mutilates them for muti. It's animals who take kids and sell them for sex work.
Animals - And should be put down like the animals they are.

So when is HunterNW's funeral? I expect you to put yourself down at the earliest convenience.

Sure, happens to me as well. I look like a standard issue dad and kids often just walk up to me and grab my leg or hand.
I'm always careful to find the parents of the kid right away and yes, Ill pick the kid up if its in distress.

I think that its a good rule to never touch a strangers kid that is still in the pram or trolly. I don't care what culture you are from, its just not needed.
Smile and play with the kid but you don't need to touch it.
