Microsft 365 price increasing by as much as 43% in South Africa

From ChatGPT:

Massive

Beneath the sky so vast, so blue,
A mountain rises, grand and true.
Its massive form, a giant’s throne,
Carved from time, by winds alone.

Its peaks embrace the clouds on high,
Whispering secrets to the sky.
With every stone, with every vein,
It bears the weight of storms and rain.

A tree stands tall with roots so deep,
A massive life in silence keeps.
Its branches stretch with strength untold,
A witness to the years grown old.

And yet, within a heart confined,
A massive force, the will, the mind.
It dreams of heights, it seeks the stars,
Breaking through life’s brittle bars.

For massive things are not just seen,
In rock, in sky, in verdant green.
They bloom in hearts, in minds that dare,
To hold the world, and meet it there.

No thanks I just use my work licence. For storage I have lifetime Pcloud, Koofr, Icedrive and Filen anyway.

"the software giant explained its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans were getting hikes due to the addition of its Copilot AI software and Designer app in “most” markets."
So what happens if you don't need the AI trash, no opt out option?

Might be an option to opt out, from the AI, but it will not opt you out of the price increase.

I paid R1500 probably a week ago, I see its now up to R2000 per annum, what BS, But still the best value since I got it specifically for cloud storage. But you get 6x Office subscriptions with the plan.

Google cloud storage (which works the best) has the stupidest plans (well MS not much different). I'm on a 200 GB plan, currently sitting on +-190 GB usage between me and my wife. So decided it was time to upgrade, One would think there would be a 400 GB plan coming from 200 GB (which lasted me +- 4 years), or perhaps a 1 TB plan, But nope. One has to jump from 200 GB (+- R550 per year) to 2TB (+- R1800 per year) which I find insane.
Checked MS and it was R1500 per year (Now R2000) and then you get 6TB which you can split with 6 people and I can install Office on 6 machines. So to me, this is a no-brainer. The sync option on an Android phone is just siht compared to Google. But I guess that's the price.....

If you don't need to keep on paying an annual subscription for Microsoft 365 ad infinitum - there are two other options available to you at present... ;)

1. Make a one-time purchase of the full-fat desktop app version of Microsoft Office 2021 Professional or Office 2024 Professional - you still get most of the monthly updates offered up for Microsoft 365, but you DON'T need to have all your data files backed up to OneDrive all the time - you can save them locally...

2. You can use your Microsoft credentials to sign-up for the FREE online app version of Microsoft 365 - this is a web-browser based, stripped-down 'Lite' version of all of the Microsoft 365 desktop apps, but with reduced functionality - but it's still usable for basic file creation & sharing purposes (it DOES however save all its files to OneDrive - 5GB max - you can increase this with an additional annual / monthly subscription - as it's an online version & you have NO access to the apps or files if you lose your internet connection).
