Not really that funny actually. Microsoft was in trouble back then.

.Net was weak, Server was unstable, SQL Server was inadequate even Office was lagging. The only thing they had going for them was XP.

It is serious guys, The field does not feel supported by us. We are not giving them what they need to win

Things are different now. Even though the email read as ridiculous, they've really swung things around. Microsoft is competing on every front, maybe not dominating everywhere, but competing.

I always wonder what everyone's issue with Microsoft is. If there was no Microsoft, we'd be paying top dollar for Oracle, IBM, Apple, Google, Sony, Amazon, VMware, Novel, Redhat to name just a few companies Microsoft has to compete with. Is it so bad that we have choice? When you walk into Spar, does it piss you off that there are more than one laundry detergent manufacturer?

Remarkable how people have predicted the death of Microsoft since the 90s.... Yet Microsoft had a 51% growth in net income profits during the first fiscal quarter of this year. Imagine if Bing, Azure and Windows Mobile 7 take off? Personally I hope it doesn't because the only reason Microsoft is producing decent products today compared to 8 years ago is the fact that they have decent competition today.
