Windows 10 Dictating...

Last night I switched off my Windows 7 PC. This morning I found it on, moved the mouse a bit to turn on the screen and I was surprised by a Windows 10 login. WTF? I never authorized Windows 10 to install. I always close that window.

Anyone else that had this problem? It is quite annoying as I was very happy with Windows 7 and was actually boycotting Windows 10.

How can this OS install without my authorization?

They busy pushing Windows 10 hard now.
You need to go to settings, update and security, recovery.
There is an option there to revert back to Windows 7.
Do it soon as I think the option is only there for a few weeks.

Human error? You could have accidently accepted. But why were you boycotting Windows 10?

Is it safe to do? As in will everything work as it did? Thanks for the tip.

Just heard more bad than good things about windows 10. I definitely didn't accept anything. Guess I'll see if it's okay or not this weekend.

It's the best Windows release yet running it at home and work. Just try it out before you roll back.

Will try it out before reverting. Just annoyed that it basically installed without my authorization.
It couldn't have. Impossible. Dozens of millions would be up in arms if that were true. Msft would wreck its business overnight if it did that, so it doesn't. You inadvertently approved the upgrade.

I don't understand how. I never checked a box, clicked an update button. I just don't understand how it happened. I reckon machines are starting to take over.

Quite a few (such as the OP) are up in arms that it can happen so easily and in such a way that they feel they've been tricked. That's Microsoft's strategy. That's what sucks. And that's precisely the reason people like me are moving, have moved or are contemplating moving away from MS and to something else such as Linux or Mac.

I have reverted back from 10 to 7 for quite a few clients.
All of them took under minutes, some instances pastel had to be reinstalled.
Otherwise everything else, Outlook mail accounts etc remain un affected.

If you have automatic updates setup to install automatically.
Very good chance your PC will restart and do the update itself.

Tip:
Turn updates to manual.
Disable and hide windows update KB3035583 (Windows 10 Upgrade).
Then you good to go.

Yeah still running Win 7 pro, it is rock solid.
Win 10 is on the gaming rig, so not much of a concern there.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'll try it out. Glad it is easy to revert though.

Well the way Windows 10 runs on my atom windows tablet I have to say that Windows 10 is the best windows yet. If I woke up one morning to find a brand new faster more efficient car in my garage I wouldn't complain.

It's now an Important update so to be expected to install automatically.

Because it's crap. Like Win8 was. Maybe Win10.1 will be good, like Win8.1 is.
Not a good enough reason. Specially when many tech review sites disagrees with that --> https://www.google.co.za/search?q=windows+10+review
