Microsoft said fixes to massive undersea cable outage in West Africa have been delayed

Pretty bad that 6-7 cables are down. Imagine if we didn't have the new ones like Equano! Africa would be cutoff from the internet!

If it is a cable break why no talk about a repair ship being dispatched?
Its off the coast of Yemen. Do you really want to try to fix cables while they keep firing guns and rockets at you?

Quite honestly till the war in Yemen is over, I doubt anyone will bother to go fix those cables.

And thats why they broke. The Houthis sank a ship, whose anchor was out, and the anchor dragged and cut straight through the cables.

I would honestly cut my losses and not replace those cables for the immediate future. Too risky.

And since many in SA are proudly supporting the Houthis for attacking and sinking of ships, well Karma is a B---h

Um - you should check your map. Yemen is quite far away from West Africa - in fact it's only near the other side of the other coast of Africa!

Ummm yeah, small flaw in your logic.

Seacom is damaged on the East Coast, the major issues from yesterday are on the West coast, and I'd be very concerned if the Houthis are operating in that area already.

There are multiple breaks in the cables in the red sea though, but that is the East side

We have cables from the East, Seacom comes via the East.

Is the CIA involved since they don't know what caused the disruption, and SA should not have gone to the ICJ. Any takers?
