Microsoft Security Essentials is an AV, and is window defender also an AV?

If I install the two together.. will they crash each other?

Because I currently have Microsoft Security Essentials installed on my computer.. But my friend just had Window defender... so I would like to ask whether they will you know.. kill each other.. if I installed them both.. on my computer..

THanks

MSE disables windefender when installing. So if you don't have it now, and you try and put it on, MSE won't like it and won't let it run. MSE does AV and Anti-malware. No need for both.

Defender = Anti-Spyware, MSE = Anti-Malware(which includes spyware protection).

So does MSE do anti-spyware?

But from people above they said that MSE will not let window defender install..

So has anyone ran them both together before?

(I actually think MSE is rather good... mm ^ ^)

I see..

You know, is it true that different anti-virus can see different viruses? Because on my brothers computer, (NOD32) it picked up a virus on my USB that MSE didn't pick up at all.. And it's been there for a VERY long time.. O.O
