Microsoft Surface laptops launched in South Africa with prices

I don't get the point of these? At that price point why not just get a touch-screen thin-form proper laptop with an Intel or AMD chip that's fully x64 compatible?

All the same restrictions of Apple hardware (unrepairable and unupgradable), but none of the software benefits (Windows dumpster fire)

Battery life. These snapdragon processors outperform even Apple chips by a large margin when it comes to standby and light load power consumption.

R10k premium. We're getting shafted as usual.

Where do you get R10k difference?

They start in the UK at £1,049.99. That's R24,500 which is a R2,500 difference.

You can't compare us to the US price. We fall under the EU/UK variants, and compete with EU/UK pricing. You can't compare our pricing to the US. Their prices excluded sales tax and VAT.

do you often form an opinion without doing research on a topic?

now I want to be clear you are not 100% wrong, there is merit to staying X64. but for those who do not need to be on X64 these are insanely good value. imagine getting multiple DAYS worth of battery life out of your work laptop. becuse for most people who work on sharepoint, teams and outlook only these things are solid options
