Just been playing around with this in Visual Studio 2008. Quite interesting I think, would be nice if I had an xbox though to try see if I could make anything for that (for fun and interest sake :p)

Anyone here ever really developed anything with this or any thoughts/ideas on nice uses for it?

Well, seeing as it's a framework for developing games, I'd guess game-development is a pretty "nice use" for it. :p

I've only dabbled around in it a bit, but it seems pretty powerful and the amount of effort needed to get something decent running is quite little. I had some models flying around the screen, with keyboard and mouse input modifying and moving them in no time. I'd love to have some free time to try and attempt something proper though...

currtly have XNA on my box, but that how far i got with too much work to be done before i can play around with it :D

you would need a premium xna subscription to be able to upload your creations to your xbox.

however you obviously can do some windows gamed with xna...

I had a quick look at it. I mostly use OpenGL so I'm not too clued up on DirectX but so far as I saw it's pretty much the evolution of Managed DirectX?

In which case it would be slow(ish) because it is managed, but I assume you could develop in C/C++ and do your own memory management.

.NET hasn't ever impressed me with speed, which is why I bring this up. Last time we did some performance tests it was horrible slow compared to Java, forget C++

Im quite attached to XNA actually, if you had been at rAge 2 years ago you could have watched me make a simple game for xbox in front of a small crowd at the Game.Dev stand. Im currently trying not to get stuck into my projects that I started in XNA till after varsity starts. If you want I can send you some of my code?

This is what Im currently working on, but it isnt particularly far or interesting yet. Im building a 2D platformer, and Im going to be blogging about it for this year. (just to give myself reason to actually keep working on it)
