MADE is a multidisciplinary creative agency hell bent on changing the advertising landscape. We do this by ignoring traditional broadcast advertising thinking, building relationships based on value, creating meaningful interactions and building beautiful, design lead experiences.
We’re currently looking for a WordPress developer to join the development team at MADE and work with us in building unique, high quality and performant applications and websites. You will be required to build custom themes as well as build WooCommerce based sites. When not working on WordPress, you will spend time working on AngularJS / React JS applications (non-Wordpress).
Where you studied, who you have worked for or how many references you have aren’t the most important things to us; at MADE we thrive on creative energy. What we’re currently interested in/what we do:
Website Development - We use WordPress as a go-to CMS for a standard content-centric website. Where websites don't have a massive functional requirement we find WordPress suits best and clients are either quick to learn it or already familiar. We develop WordPress sites from the ground up and write our own themes for every project.
Mobile Apps - We have taken a keen interest in hybrid libraries like Ionic and React Native and have built some amazing apps. We want to scale our backend development of these apps and build a smart management system for apps.
Web Applications - For those times when we need to build something bigger and more functional, we look to those frameworks that we believe will make us happy. We use Rails and React when it comes to larger builds as we love the idea behind their architectures. We love programming, and anything that aims to make us enjoy it even more is definitely worth our attention.
We love using new technologies and finding better ways to do things. We love the debate, the learning and the discovery. If you feel the same, come and join us in our mission!
Our Environment:
· We have a small team of highly talented developers who love to write good code and produce amazing software.
· A culture that lets you be you. No dress code for non-client facing members.
· Flexible / remote working.
· 100MB Uncapped fibre line.

· Central offices (Loop Street).

· Any commercial software you need (Adobe Creative Cloud, IDE, Editors, etc).

· 1.5 leave days per month (free leave over December).
Renumeration:
We offer a competitive salary (R15 000-R30 000), depending on skills and experience.
As a WordPress developer, your responsibilities will include:
· Building and implementing hand built themes.
· Building e-commerce based websites using WooCommerce.
· Build & manage predominantly WordPress based websites.
· Basic to Intermediate WordPress plugin development.
· Maintenance (security & updates) work on existing WordPress websites.
Requirements:
· Working experience with JavaScript frameworks (Angular JS/React JS are ideal).
· Working experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS, LESS, Stylus).
· Working experience with LAMP / LEMP.
· Working experience with API / Web Services.
· Comfortable with git repository workflows (feature branch).
· An understanding of basic programming practices (DRY, OOP, etc.).
· An understanding of the importance of well written and maintainable code.
· You understand the importance of customers in product development and are capable of translating functional requirements into a technical design.
· Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, especially testing and quality assurance.
Beneficial and extra points:
· Strong in PHP / MySQL / WordPress Core
· Github profile (contributions to open source projects, etc)
· Ruby on Rails experience
· Interest in learning and adapting to new languages
